FLOSSING IS A CRUCIAL element of our daily oral hygiene routine. A toothbrush simply cannot reach the plaque and food particles stuck between our teeth or under an implant retained tooth or bridge, so we need to floss to get at it.Simple brushing is even less effective on its own for those with dental implants. It is extremely important we clean around and under implant crowns and bridges to ensure the implant remains strong and healthy. As necessary as flossing is, it can still seem like a hassle at times. That’s why we’re so excited that old-fashioned flossing isn’t the only option. One of our favourite alternatives to traditional floss is the Waterpik® Water Flosser, the first powered interdental cleaner to earn the American Dental Association’s seal of approval.
How Waterpik Compares
According to our patients, the Waterpik is quick and easy to use compared to floss, as well as being less traumatic than floss. The Waterpik is great for patients with implant retained crowns and bridges! It’s a great way to get to the implant under the gum.
Get Your Own Waterpik Water Flosser!
Here at Braintree Dental Studio, we highly recommend that all our implant patients invest in a Waterpik. It’s a much quicker and more effective way to clean around implants and it ensures that bacteria is removed, which helps maintain the longevity of your lovely teeth and dental implants. The Waterpik takes less than half the time patients would normally take to floss, which is great for our busy patients. The initial cost of the Waterpik is greater than basic floss, but that doesn’t stop it from being a very worthy investment in our eyes. ALL our patients think it’s great! We often recommend the cordless Waterflosser as this is smaller and much easier for patients to store in their bathrooms. It’s very handy for traveling as well. Patients should be aware that the cordless Waterflosser will cost between £45-55, but we offer a Waterpik voucher for a great discount on the first Waterpik you buy!
Let Us Know How You Like It!
We’d love to hear how you like your Waterpik Water Flosser once you start using it, so make sure you let us know at your next appointment with us. Until then, don’t forget to brush twice a day and use the Waterpik to “floss” once a day!
Keep cleaning those gorgeous pearly whites!
