Braintree Dental Studio is dedicated to the oral health of our patients, offering gentle, affordable treatment for those in need of tooth extraction.
There are a number of reasons why a tooth might need to be removed. Among the most common causes are decaying or infected teeth, or those that are damaged beyond repair. In the case of serious decay, it’s vital to remove the tooth as soon as possible, to prevent the infection spreading further. Damaged teeth are also prone to infection, so often need to be removed.
We also provide tooth extractions for wisdom teeth. When new teeth break through, they can damage or push your other teeth out of place, causing pain and discomfort. Removing these can prevent infection or decay, giving your teeth room to develop normally.
Tooth extraction can be a daunting prospect for anyone with decaying, damaged or infected teeth. However, left untreated, problematic teeth can have more serious consequences in the long run. Done well, tooth extractions needn’t cause you a headache. Performed under local anaesthetic by one of our skilled dentists, you’ll be smiling again in no time.

Your dentist will administer an anaesthetic before the procedure to ensure that you won’t experience any discomfort. In most cases, the dentist will use a local anaesthetic to numb the area of the extraction site.
This procedure is quicker than you’d think. The entire process takes anywhere between 20-40 minutes. That said, the procedure will take longer if you require more than one tooth pulled.
Any initial swelling of the area around the tooth extraction should reduce within a couple of days. Any discomfort can be eased with over-the-counter painkillers. For the first couple days of your recovery, you will need to stick to a liquid or soft food diet. Typically, your dentist will recommend that you relax for the first two to three days and once your surgical site is allowed to clot completely, you can then return to physical activity.
